Tip #1 Count carbs correctly Experiencing high blood sugars? Chances are you are eating more carbs than you are counting. Carb counting is essential to a diabetics life. You need insulin every time you eat, but it has to be the correct amount. Ask you endocrinologist or nutritionist what your insulin to carb ratio is. Mine is 1:9 for breakfast and lunch and 1:8 for dinner. Use free apps like My Fitness Pal and Calorie King to calculate the carbs you are eating. Watch my video on carb counting coming soon!
